Nostos is a theme in Ancient Greek literature, which includes an epic hero returning home by sea. This journey is usually very extensive and includes going through certain trials that test the hero. The return isn't just about returning home physically but also about retaining your identity upon arrival. Through five-thousand years’ China Dynasties, millions of poems were composed to illustrate such similar scenes.
Materials:
This art piece is all made from food wastes which include coffee ground, tea leaves, rose petal, orange peels and so on. They provide rich texture and dynamic expressions to the scene. Meanwhile, their original colors also match corresponding cultural illustrations.
The wool provides extra flexibility and adjusts the visual density for the whole image.
I have also experimented with introducing food coloring to navigate my color board.
